The importance of being Mom...
I suppose it's apropos for me to do today's blog since I'm the only one of us that isn't a mother (though I've been called that on occasion and not always in a nice way, lol). Fortunately, I have a good loving relationship with my mom, so this day has always been special for our small family.

To me, the most important job on earth is being a mother. The responsibilities are awesome, but the rewards are priceless. We, meaning our culture, take moms for granted. Most mothers get very little thanks for the continual hard work and sacrifice they make for their family. Most have two jobs--being a mother, which is a 24/7 job, and a paying job either inside or out of the home. Unless mom has a housekeeper and full time cook, tag those endless duties onto her work load, too.

My mother was a stay at home mom, but since we lived on a farm, her day was busy with various chores. Having farm animals is like having more kids in many ways, yet she always had time for me.

That's the important thing about being a mother--having time for your kids.

My three cps are stay at home moms seriously pursuing a writing career. I know for a fact Amy, Allison and Sharon are first-rate moms first and dedicated writers second. If that order were reversed, I wouldn't respect and love each of them like I do.

Happy Mother's Day to my mom, my writing sisters and my friends. May it be as special to each of you as you all are to your children.
